Part of staying on track when you’re being good is having easy food options at your fingertips. I don’t always have time to food prep, but at least if I have things that are easy to put together, it helps. Smoothies are always a great option because you can make them in a flash. I usually add some sort of protein powder to a smoothie for added fuel and to keep me from getting hungry an hour later, but sometimes protein powders can have some strange ingredients in them that I don’t particularly care to put in my system. I discovered a long time ago, that adding liquid egg whites to smoothies is a great way to get protein without any odd additives from protein powders. This Chocolate Banana Breakfast Smoothie is so good, it’s almost like having dessert for breakfast. AND, it’s about as clean as you can get. If you wanted, you could make these ahead and store them in mason jars. Whatever you have time for.
Let’s talk about almond milk for a hot second. This smoothie has almond milk in it. It’s taken me a while to get on board with almond milk because I never could find one that didn’t have a bunch of weird ingredients in it. Making my own seems a bit daunting and I don’t own a vitamix blender, so buying one is just easier. I stumbled across a brand a while back called New Barn and their unsweetened almond milk is the cleanest one I’ve found on the market. It also tastes delicious, so I highly recommend it if you can find it. I’ve only found it at Whole Foods and a local grocery store/cafe we have in town, but I bet you could order it if you can’t seem to find it in your local stores.
Hope you enjoy this busy morning smoothie!
